The action of linear media on incident polarized electromagnetic waves can produce two kinds thermodynamic irreversible effects, namely, loss intensity, in general anisotropic, and reduction the degree polarization. Even though both phenomena be described through specific properties, overall reversibility polarimetric interactions characterized by means a single parameter whose minimum maximum values are achieved fully reversible transformations, respectively.
